Damage Restoration Before & After in Jamaica, NY
Photos finish arguments that words start. We’ve documented every job since 2011 because homeowners deserve to see what restoration actually means: not magic, just methodical work with the right equipment and a crew that shows up when they say they will. Below are representative transformations from jobs we’ve handled across Jamaica, from the flooded basements near Jamaica Avenue to smoke-damaged apartments off Hillside Avenue.
Recent Transformations
Water Damage Restoration: Burst Supply Line in South Jamaica Basement
The homeowner heard running water at 2 a.m. and found two inches of standing water in a finished basement near Baisley Boulevard. We arrived within 90 minutes, extracted the water with truck-mounted systems, and deployed Dri-Eaz dehumidifiers and Phoenix air movers to hit 40 grains per pound specific humidity within 48 hours. The moisture logs we produced went straight to their carrier. Total downtime: five days. Written price delivered before the first fan switched on, per Haven Standard, Clause 1.
Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration: Kitchen Grease Fire in Jamaica Estates
Protein fires leave a film that looks invisible until you try to paint over it. In this Jamaica Estates kitchen, the grease fire had driven acrid smoke into the HVAC return and through the second floor. We soda-blasted the charred wall framing to remove pyrolyzed residue, ran hydroxyl generators and thermal fogging for four days to break the odor molecules, and rebuilt the kitchen with the homeowner’s chosen finishes. The photo record we delivered to their adjuster showed every stage: soot, stripped substrate, sealed surface, finished room.
Mold Remediation: Hidden Colony Behind Bathroom Tile in Hollis
The homeowner in Hollis pulled a vanity and found what looked like black dirt behind it. Lab testing confirmed Stachybotrys chartarum, which thrives in cellulose with sustained moisture above 16 percent wood moisture equivalent. We built a containment chamber, ran negative air with HEPA filtration, removed the tile and water-damaged cement board, and treated the studs with antimicrobial before installing new moisture-resistant substrate. The post-remediation clearance test passed at 0.3 spores per cubic meter. We wrote the scope and price before containment went up. No surprises, no scope creep.
Storm & Disaster Restoration: Tree Impact and Roof Breach in St. Albans
A mature oak on the parkway lost a major limb during the March wind event and punched through the roof decking above the living room. Rain followed for six hours before the homeowner could get a tarp in place. We emergency-tarped the roof breach, removed the saturated insulation and collapsed drywall, and ran Injectidry systems to dry the remaining ceiling cavity without tearing out the whole structure. The roof repair was coordinated with a local roofer we document on jobs like this; the interior rebuild was ours. Moisture logs showed vapor pressure differential dropping from 1.2 inches Hg to 0.3 before we signed off. The adjuster paid the full invoice with no depreciation fight because the documentation was complete before we left the site.
Sewage Cleanup: Backed-Up Main Line in Jamaica Commercial Kitchen
Sewage backups in commercial kitchens don’t negotiate. This Category 3 loss near Jamaica Center required removal of quarry tile, base cabinets, and the lower four feet of drywall per IICRC S500 protocol for black water. We pressure-washed the concrete slab with 180-degree water, applied antimicrobial, and rebuilt with materials that could survive the next incident: sealed epoxy grout, solid-surface bases, and FRP panels where drywall had been. The health department inspector signed off on the first visit because our photo record showed every step from contamination to completion. The owner had their written price before we started and their daily moisture logs before we left.
Biohazard & Crime Scene Cleanup: Unattended Death in Residential Apartment
This is the work no one wants to need and everyone wants done right. In a Jamaica apartment building, we handled an unattended death where biological contamination had penetrated carpet, pad, and the plywood subfloor beneath. We removed all porous materials, treated the concrete with enzyme-based cleaners, and verified sanitation with ATP bioluminescence testing before any reconstruction began. The property manager received the full photo record, waste manifest, and clearance documentation for their files. We don’t discuss details that aren’t ours to share. We do document everything that proves the space is safe again.
Reconstruction & Cleanup: Post-Mitigation Full Rebuild in Laurelton
Mitigation crews dry buildings. We put them back together. This Laurelton home had been stripped to studs after a Category 3 water loss, and the homeowner needed one contractor to handle everything from insulation to paint. We scoped the rebuild in writing, priced it before the first 2×4 arrived, and managed the full reconstruction: R-13 batt insulation, 5/8-inch drywall, pre-finished engineered flooring to match the undamaged second story, and trim painted to the original Benjamin Moore spec. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers this work too. If the paint cracks or the floor gaps, we make it right.
