Meet the Jamaica Team Behind DryMark Restoration Jamaica

We’re the crew that shows up when water’s still moving through your walls or smoke’s settled into the drywall of your South Jamaica colonial. Every one of us is background-checked, uniformed, and named on the work order before we step through your door. What ties us together isn’t a handbook. It’s The Haven Standard, and the fact that Alicia Brennan still reviews every photo record before it goes to an adjuster.

Our People

Alicia Brennan, Owner

I started DryMark Restoration Jamaica in 2011 after twelve years as a claims adjuster, watching homeowners lose tens of thousands because no one taught them to document the damage before the drywall went back up. The worst case I ever saw was a family in St. Albans who had a perfectly valid $47,000 water claim denied because their contractor threw away the wet insulation before the adjuster arrived. I built this company around that gap. Every job we run now produces a photo record, a written scope signed before work starts, and daily moisture logs that turn restoration invoices into payable claims. I still spot-check the documentation myself, usually late at night with coffee that’s gone cold. The dry irony of this business is that the worst damage almost always hits the room someone just finished renovating. I’ve learned to mention that before the homeowner does.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been running mitigation crews since 2014, and he’s the person we send when a boiler bursts in a Richmond Hill basement at 2 a.m. He’s IICRC-certified in Water Damage Restoration (WRT) and Applied Structural Drying (ASD), which means he can read a psychrometric chart the way most people read a weather app, and he’ll explain vapor pressure differential in plain terms while he’s setting up the dehumidifiers. He keeps a waterproof notebook in his truck where he sketches floor plans from memory after every job, a habit he picked up working flooded brownstones in Crown Heights. Marcus is the one who trains new hires on the Injectidry and Dri-Eaz systems, and he’s particular about hose placement in ways that matter when you’re trying to save original oak flooring.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena handles the reconstruction side, the work that starts once the drying’s done and the moisture readings hit dry standard. She’s certified through the RIA and specializes in matching period trim and plaster finishes in the pre-war homes that dominate our Jamaica service area. Her first job with us was a fire-damaged Tudor in Hollis where the insurance scope missed the original crown molding entirely; she found a millwork shop in Long Island City that could replicate it, documented the difference, and got the supplement approved. Elena carries a folding ruler that belonged to her grandfather, a carpenter who worked on the 1964 World’s Fair. She uses it to check reveals and corner beads, and she’s been known to correct architects’ details when they’re wrong about how a 1920s plaster wall was actually built.

David K., Service Coordinator

David answers the phones that ring at 3 a.m. when a pipe freezes in a Jamaica Estates split-level. He’s the live person on the other end of the line, no voicemail tree, no callback promise for the next business day. Before he joined us in 2019, he spent six years dispatching for FDNY EMS in Queens, so he’s calm when callers aren’t, and he knows how to extract the details that matter: which floor, how long has it been running, is the power still on, is anyone hurt. David keeps a map of Queens water main breaks taped above his monitor, updated weekly from DEP reports, because knowing where the city pressure drops helps him anticipate which neighborhoods will call next. He speaks Spanish and Haitian Creole, which matters in a service area where English isn’t always the first language when someone’s standing in three inches of basement water.

Jasmine W., Apprentice Technician

Jasmine joined us in 2023 after completing her OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER 40-hour certifications, the baseline for anyone who touches sewage backups or biohazard scenes. She’s learning the equipment roster fast, Phoenix dehumidifiers to B-Air air movers, and she’s already particular about the daily moisture logs that feed into our IICRC documentation packages. Her background is in forensic science, which sounds unrelated until you watch her photograph a water line on a wall with the same rigor she’d use for evidence collection. Jasmine lives in South Ozone Park and takes the A train to our Jamaica depot, which means she’s often the first to arrive when overnight storms hit the Rockaways and the calls stack up before dawn.

One Standard, Every Job

One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard travels with us whether we’re drying a studio in Jamaica or managing a multi-unit fire loss across the borough. Clause 1 is the same at every address: written price before any work starts, with no scope-creep additions once the crew is inside your house. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is stamped and signed, not mentioned in passing. Every visit produces a documented photo record, every drying job generates moisture logs formatted to insurance standards, and every technician who arrives at your door is named, licensed, and verified. We’re independently owned and operated, not a franchise, and Alicia Brennan reviews the documentation personally because she built this company on the documentation gap that costs homeowners their claims. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and it’s the standard you’ll see in action when we show up.
